From intern developer to functional analyst

Yann started as one of our interns.

“There was an immediate ‘click’ with Itineris, the work atmosphere was fun and challenging – and I didn’t feel like ‘just an intern’. This internship not only gave me the possibility to work as a developer, but also led me to the conclusion that I didn’t want to function in a technical role. So I decided to go back to school and study business management. After graduation I didn’t even look for a job after my extra year. I immediately returned to Itineris as a functional analyst.”

“Shortly after I started working here, a large group of new starters arrived. We were all in the same training sessions which immediately created a feeling of unity & solidarity. We often grab a bite together or have a drink after work hours. It’s not always purely about work – although we do work hard here. I also like the fact that there are often sports activities as sports are very important to me in my private life. I go kitesurfing, I’m captain of my hockey team and I used to be a lifeguard for nine years. The sports I exert & these experiences have definitely shaped me and taught me to make decisions fast.”

My first project experience

Yann had the chance to start working on a large and rather complex project at De Watergroep only a few weeks after his arrival.

“The first preparatory assignment for the project consisted of modelling six core processes and defining processes with SIPOC, which proved to be a very valuable experience as it provided me with important insights. I could also make small contributions to shaping the customer’s future business processes.”

“Through this project I came in touch with one of my main strengths: communication. I am a good communicator which is appreciated by both the customer and the team. Even though I’m only a junior, I’m not afraid to speak my mind. I like the fact that this is accepted here and one is immediately addressed as a full member of the team.”

“In the near future I look forward to see the project evolve, watch all different tracks come together and start training the future users of our UMAX solution.”

What I like about Itineris…

“Itineris is a big part of my life now. My work is very satisfying and you get a lot of feedback – not only from peers or managers, but also from the customer.”
